Terms and conditions for our clothing repair and alteration services

1. Introduction and Acceptance

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the clothing repair and alteration services provided by Betul Caldr ("we", "our", or "us"), a business located at 45 High Street, Kensington, London, SW7 2QB, Britannia.

By engaging our services, visiting our premises, or using our website, you ("Customer" or "you") agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our services.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Betul Caldr.

2. Our Services

2.1 Service Description

We provide professional clothing repair, alteration, and restoration services including but not limited to:

  • Hemming and length adjustments
  • Zipper replacement and repair
  • Button and fastener replacement
  • Tear and hole mending
  • Garment alterations and resizing
  • Vintage clothing restoration
  • Invisible mending and darning

2.2 Service Limitations

We reserve the right to:

  • Refuse service for items we deem unrepairable or unsafe to work on
  • Recommend alternative solutions if the requested repair is not advisable
  • Subcontract specialised work to qualified professionals
  • Modify our service offering without prior notice

3. Orders, Quotes, and Acceptance

3.1 Assessment and Quotation

All work begins with a free assessment. We will provide a written quotation including:

  • Description of work to be performed
  • Estimated completion time
  • Total cost of services
  • Any specific terms or conditions

3.2 Quote Validity

Quotations are valid for 30 days from the date of issue. Prices may change after this period due to material costs or other factors.

3.3 Acceptance of Work

Work commences upon your acceptance of our quotation and leaving your garment(s) in our care. This constitutes a binding contract for the specified services.

3.4 Changes to Work

Any changes to the agreed work must be authorised in writing and may result in additional charges and extended completion times.

4. Payment Terms

4.1 Payment Methods

We accept payment by cash, debit card, credit card, contactless payment, and bank transfer. Payment is due upon collection of completed work.

4.2 Pricing

All prices quoted include VAT where applicable. Additional charges may apply for:

  • Rush orders or express services
  • Specialist materials or techniques
  • Multiple fittings
  • Changes to original specifications

4.3 Payment Plans

For work exceeding £200, payment plans may be available by arrangement. A deposit of at least 50% is required before work commences.

4.4 Late Payment

Items not collected within 30 days of completion notification may incur storage charges of £2 per day. Items left for more than 90 days may be disposed of in accordance with applicable law.

5. Customer Responsibilities

5.1 Item Condition

You are responsible for:

  • Providing accurate information about garment history and previous repairs
  • Disclosing any damage, stains, or defects
  • Ensuring items are clean (we may refuse soiled items)
  • Removing personal items from pockets

5.2 Care Instructions

You must provide original care labels or inform us of specific care requirements. We are not liable for damage resulting from incorrect care information.

5.3 Realistic Expectations

You acknowledge that:

  • Perfect colour matching may not always be possible
  • Some repairs may be visible upon close inspection
  • Vintage or damaged fabrics may be fragile and prone to further damage
  • Alterations may affect the original fit and appearance

6. Completion Times and Collection

6.1 Estimated Completion

Completion times are estimates and may be affected by:

  • Complexity of work
  • Availability of materials
  • Workshop capacity
  • Unforeseen complications

6.2 Notification

We will notify you when work is complete via your preferred contact method. Items are ready for collection during business hours.

6.3 Collection Requirements

Items must be collected by the person who authorised the work or their designated representative with proper identification and collection receipt.

6.4 Inspection Upon Collection

You should inspect completed work upon collection. Any concerns must be raised immediately. Acceptance of items constitutes satisfaction with the work performed.

7. Warranties and Guarantees

7.1 Workmanship Guarantee

We guarantee our workmanship for 6 months from completion date. This covers:

  • Defects in our repair work
  • Failure of our alterations under normal use
  • Loose threads or seams related to our work

7.2 Exclusions

Our guarantee does not cover:

  • Normal wear and tear
  • Damage from misuse or improper care
  • Pre-existing damage or weaknesses
  • Damage caused by dry cleaning or washing
  • Colour fading or fabric deterioration

7.3 Remedy

Our liability under this guarantee is limited to re-performing the defective work at no charge or refunding the amount paid for the defective portion of work.

8. Limitation of Liability

8.1 Maximum Liability

Our total liability for any claim related to our services is limited to the lesser of:

  • The amount paid for the specific service
  • £500 per item
  • The current replacement value of the item

8.2 Exclusion of Consequential Damages

We are not liable for:

  • Sentimental or emotional value
  • Loss of use or enjoyment
  • Indirect or consequential damages
  • Loss of profits or business
  • Punitive damages

8.3 High-Value Items

For items valued over £500, additional insurance may be required. You must declare high-value items and may be asked to provide proof of value.

8.4 Time Limits

Claims must be made within 30 days of collection. Claims made after this period will not be considered.

9. Force Majeure

We are not liable for delays or failure to perform due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including:

  • Natural disasters or extreme weather
  • Government actions or regulations
  • Strike, labour disputes, or supplier failures
  • Equipment failure or power outages
  • Pandemic or health emergencies

10. Privacy and Data Protection

Your personal information is collected and used in accordance with our Privacy Policy. By using our services, you consent to our data processing practices as described in our Privacy Policy.

We may photograph your garments for documentation and quality control purposes. Marketing use of photographs requires your explicit consent.

11. Intellectual Property

All content on our website, including text, graphics, logos, and images, is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or use our content without written permission.

Any repair techniques, patterns, or methods developed by us remain our intellectual property.

12. Dispute Resolution

12.1 Informal Resolution

We encourage customers to contact us directly to resolve any concerns. Most issues can be resolved through discussion.

12.2 Mediation

If informal resolution fails, disputes may be resolved through mediation with a mutually agreed mediator.

12.3 Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any legal proceedings must be brought in the courts of England and Wales.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on our website and take effect immediately. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of updated Terms.

Significant changes will be communicated to existing customers via email or prominent notice in our shop.

14. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
